The Distinctness of the Human Person
It was the week before Thanksgiving that I reached out to Ann. I read about her interesting take on the creation story. The month before, I had been reading a lot about the end times and am fascinated by the universe, its origins and the Biblical beginnings. I have also been re-reading the Old Testament and so was quite intrigued. During the weekend, I reached out to Ann and she was quick to respond and we recorded this episode.
What really impressed me is Ann’s approach to God. This is probably a similar approach to any person who is trying to understand God intellectually. In the end, Ann’s advice is to have faith and if you don’t have it, to ask God for it.
She explains how we cannot have come from randomness or coincidence. Through her studies she highlights the distinctness of the human person. Our capacities, including that of language, freewill, ability to understand the consequence of our actions and knowing the difference between right and wrong distinguish us from animals.
