Lessons on Motherhood from Mary

In this episode, I talk to Kim Sullivan about lessons from Mary’s motherhood. She explains:
i. What are the challenges of Mary’s motherhood?
ii. What can Mothers learn from Mary about motherhood?
iii.. What advice can you give mothers struggling right now as a mum?
iv. What has gotten you through the difficult times of motherhood? Anything you would have done differently if you were telling your younger self?

Happy Mother’s Day

I reached out to Kim after I read her post on Family Fire on Parenting Lessons. I wrote to her immediately and heard back the very next day. You can tell when the Holy Spirit is moving and what I loved is that Kim said she would discern and pray before getting back to me. I loved how she was so attuned in prayer and seeking guidance before undertaking this. My team started to pray and we decided to record the next day. You can just tell when God is the motive behind an action.

You can hear Kim’s passion for ministry and for God’s will. She talks about her own ups and downs as a mother and all the invaluable lessons she has gleaned from her own life and by meditating on Mary’s. She has something so profound to share in this episode where she lays bare her own vulnerabilities and things she wished she had done differently.

I hear it from my own mother too, the “I wish I could have,” statements. There’s no manual for motherhood. You just go through it. However, like Mary you can lean on God and trust Him. When things are hard, lean hard on Him.

Pray! Pray! Pray!. My own mother could not do much for me physically. But she has stood in the gap every time, all the time when I needed her. She has gone to spiritual war on my behalf with constant intercession. Even before each episode, she intercedes so that everything will go right. You have no idea, the power your prayer has as a mother. Prayer should become the cornerstone of your Christian motherhood.
