In 1996, a young graduate, Violet Baretto leaves Goa to work in oil-rich Kuwait as a maid for a wealthy Kuwaiti woman. Sabah Dashti, the Kuwaiti matriarch can’t tell Violet the truth; nine of Sabah’s previous maids have absconded, five of them were found pregnant or that the police think she’s running a prostitution ring.
Kuwait is still patriarchal and women are second-class citizens. Despite their differences, both Sabah and Violet are hungry for success as it will give them a chance to live life on their own terms. Together they build a thriving business. But a woman-hating, the killer has set eyes on them and will not let them succeed at any cost. Poignant, chilling and honest, Painting Kuwait Violet underlines the reality of women on either side of the country’s class divide.

-I’m usually not one to read books about being single, because they don’t always uplift, but I was thankful the author encouraged to trust the Lord ultimately; to align our lives with Christ!- Olivia
-I recommend this book to any women, I also think this book would be a great resource for women who would like to encourage their friends.- Lourdes
– Though targeted towards single women, this book had several portions that I feel are useful to any faithful Christian. I loved her vocation section. Her discussion on chastity is an important one, and her advice on seeking God was phenomenal. One of my favorite parts was how she talked about trying to be a Proverbs 31 woman while feeling like a Psalm 31 woman. -Kate Hendrick
Trish Holt is a pianist, living in picturesque Boothbay Harbor, Maine. She is stunned and blindsided by the most bitter kind of betrayal: her boyfriend of three years has left her.

Can Trish stop herself from loving Michael whose own family’s dark past is holding him back?
Can she ignore his love for tradition and roots?
– Pamela Q. Fernandes really sets the scene, her attention to detail is amazing. I was drawn to Trish and her struggles in life, I felt her pain, especially young Trish, it was truly heartbreaking reading through her first 11 years of life. – Kerry Chalmers
– This is an amazing story depicting the conflict going through Michael’s head and the desperation faced by Trish. The interactions between the 2 of them are amazing to read – Karyn Taylor
-I especially loved the love of piano playing in the novel, it seems like there are so few novels with instruments like that written as a main aspect anymore. Loved the writing, Fernandes did an incredible making the words flow freely with tons of emotions throughout the pages – Rachel Moss

– Stumped is the first book of Pamela Q Fernandez that I have read and boy did she get me hooked. The details are amazing, she explained cricket well enough for me to follow along and understand it. -Kristine
– This is my first book by this author, and I loved it. Claude and Delilah had a bitter sweet sort of relationship, and all the ups and downs made you on unsure of where things would go. Their summer of love, romance, and marriage was a whirlwind. The divorce gave you a sense of tragedy. Their love felt like the seasons and you truly were not sure where things would go when they reconnected. This book is one not to be missed. -SaviLeelin
